Privacy policy
Last updated: September 10, 2026
1explain turns videos, audio, and written processes into work instructions you can edit and share. This policy explains how we handle information when you use 1explain.com. For privacy questions or requests, email hi@1explain.com.
Information we handle
We handle your account email and authentication information, and basic profile information provided by Google or Microsoft if you use those sign-in options. We store content you submit, including uploaded video and audio, guide titles, descriptions, steps, and sharing settings. If you contact us, we receive your message and contact details. Our infrastructure providers may process technical information such as IP addresses, request timestamps, and error logs to operate and protect the service.
How we use information
We use this information to sign you in, create and save guides, process media, provide sharing, respond to support requests, and diagnose errors or abuse. Where applicable, we process information to provide the service you request, for our legitimate interests in keeping it secure and reliable, and to meet legal obligations.
AI processing and service providers
We use Supabase for authentication, database storage, and uploaded media. When you request automatic instructions, we send the selected media and guide title to Google’s Gemini API to generate a response. Our app requests deletion of the temporary Gemini file after processing; provider logs and other retention are governed by Google’s terms. Google’s handling of submitted content depends on the API service, billing status, and applicable region. Read the Gemini API terms before uploading sensitive material.
Hosting and support providers also process information needed to operate the service. Providers may process data outside your country. Applicable provider agreements govern their processing and international transfers. Only upload information you are entitled to share and process.
Public sharing
When you enable a public sharing link, anyone with that link can view the shared guide and its media and can forward the link. You can turn sharing off. Revoking a link cannot remove copies someone has already downloaded or recorded.
Browser storage
We use browser storage to maintain your sign-in session, remember your theme, and preserve drafts and selected media across reloads or sign-in redirects. You can clear this data in your browser settings, which may sign you out or remove unsaved drafts.
Retention and deletion
Saved guides and uploaded media are retained to make them available in your account. To request deletion of your account or content, contact hi@1explain.com. Some information may remain in backups or security records for a limited period, or where retention is required by law. Clearing browser drafts does not delete content already saved to your account.
Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact hi@1explain.com to make a request. We may need to verify your identity. You may also raise a concern with your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page as the service changes. The date above shows the latest revision.
